Santorini - A place that never sleeps

Caldera boat tour in Santorini
Being one of the most beautiful of the Greek Islands, there is plenty to see in Santorini. If you are not content with just simply lounging around on the pristine beaches every day, you will be able to take a number of excursions or day trips from wine tasting tours to ancient buildings. Here are some of the best:

Santorini Hotels & Villas

They contain every facility required for charming holidays from bedrooms to a nice club. Santorini villas are also the best. They provide you a calm atmosphere with all the optimum facilities during your trip.

Caldera Boat Tour
The caldera formed after a huge volcanic eruption about 3,500 years ago and the best way to see it is by boat. You’ll be able to sail around water and the uninhabited lava islands there, Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni. Once there, you will be able to climb up the craters for the incredible and marvelous scenes over Santorini Island.

Thira (Fira)
No visit to Santorini Island is complete without a tour of the island’s capital. There stands on a steep hillside looking out to sea and is made up of many white washed houses and churches. The town can only be reached on foot, a cable car or donkey which has helped it retain its charm. It’s always a joy to wander through the narrow streets here and stop off for a drink in one of the traditional tavernas.

Hot Springs
For something a little different, don’t forget to visit hot springs in Palea Kameni. The water temperature is slightly higher than normal while it also contains sulfur which is said to be good for skin so taking a dip here is highly recommended. Also the water is quite muddy as it is near a volcano, but it’s always a great experience.

Ios Island
If you want to leave Santorini Island behind for a day, you can hop for a ferry to Ios, one of the best kept secret out of all the Greek Islands. The Island is incredibly beautiful with pretty villages and beaches, while there are also plenty of historical landmarks including Homer’s tomb-the tomb of the famous poet-and numerous churches. Anyone who wanted to stay for night will be able to enjoy the vibrant nightlife on the island, which centers on the main village of Chora.

Wine Tasting
Santorini is the home for some of the most delicious wines in the world, meaning there are plenty of wine tasting tours around the Island. You can find every kind of wine in all the Perissa Santorini hotels and Santorini villas. Several vineyards can be found in Santorini so the wine lovers will be able to learn all about their favorite tipple and get to try some too. Wine tasting is a great activity for anyone who wants to escape the heat of the sun for a couple of hours.
